Don't Give Up on Your New Year's Resolutions

If you’re anything like most twenty-somethings, your New Year’s resolutions probably included some health and fitness aspirations. And, again, if you’re like most other twenty-somethings, you know how hard it can be to stick to your fitness goals. Between school, work, family and your social life, sticking to a rigid workout routine sometimes just isn’t in the cards. But, don’t give up quite yet, because you can meet, and even exceed, your fitness goals, without being a slave to unrealistic regimens. Keep reading to find out how.

1. Set Healthy Goals

Whether it’s weight loss or adding muscle tone, setting healthy, realistic goals is essential to sticking to your resolutions. For example, if you need to lose 30 pounds, break up your goal into five-pound increments. And, to boost motivation and all-around attitude, don’t forget to celebrate those small victories!

2. Write it Out

Keeping a tangible reminder of your fitness goals can go a long way in helping you achieve them. Write down all your goals, as well as your plans for making them reality. Also, written affirmations, inspiring photos and encouraging notes are great for keeping you on track and inspired.

3. Choose the Right Workouts

In order to stick to a fitness resolution, you should find an activity you really and truly enjoy. Slogging your way through unenjoyable activities, no matter how effective they may be, will kill your motivation and likely end in burn-out. Instead, try to figure out which workouts will keep you coming back for more. And if you’re not sure what you like, keep trying new workouts and programs until you find one that sticks.

4. Use the Right Supplement

Using diet and vitamin supplements can enhance weight loss, boost energy and provide your body with essential vitamins and minerals. If shedding pounds is a top priority, look for supplements that offer enhanced metabolism and fat-burning capabilities. What’s more, supplement companies like Healthy Trim offer online coaching and support, as well as tips that will help you meet your goals, quickly and effectively.

5. Make the Time

One of the biggest obstacles in achieving our fitness goals is finding the time to commit to an exercise regimen. However, tips like the following will help you make the most of your time, so that you can stick to those resolutions:

  • Work out in small increments. Ten minutes of exercise three times a day is just as effective as one thirty-minute session, so make the most of breaks and other lulls in the day.
  • Work smart. Workouts that involve HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, can prove extremely effective in providing results in a short amount of time.
  • Rework your schedule. No matter how busy you are, you can probably fit in three or four workouts per week. So, check your schedule, and start rearranging. In six months, you’ll be glad you did.

6. Use the Buddy System

Are you looking for support, accountability and company during your workouts? If so, enlist the help of a workout buddy. You can exercise together, inspire each other, and maybe even spice things up with some friendly competition! Look online for people. You may be able to find a workout partner through a social media site, perhaps even through the Healthy Trim Facebook page.

7. Use Technology

There are a variety of apps, websites and online trackers that can help you stay on track. Whether your diet needs revamping or monitoring, or you need daily motivation to hit the gym, you’re sure to find the app that best suits your needs.

Fitness resolutions can be some of the hardest to achieve. However, with the tips provided here, you can stay on track, and experience all the great benefits of regular exercise. Good luck!
