The most common cause of periods every two weeks is the imbalance in the levels of estrogen and progesterone in a woman’s body. This imbalance is most common during puberty and menopause, both stages involving many body changes. Besides, the drastic weight loss or gain triggers irregular menstrual cycle. Sometimes girls and women over exercise and doing this disrupt their hormones, eventually disturbing their menstrual cycle.

Stress is yet another culprit that makes the hormones go haywire. Illnesses and medicines you take to cure them also sometimes disturb your cycle. You can stop taking them for a while to confirm whether it is one of the reasons or not. Polyps, cysts, fibroids or tumors are some of the uterine problems that play a major role in deviating a woman’s regular menstrual cycle.

Sexually transmitted infections cause a woman to bleed in between her periods, and some misunderstand it for having period every two weeks. Thyroid disease makes a woman’s uterine lining thick that makes her bleed more than normal. Few contraceptive methods do not suit some women and disturb their cycle, and of course, menopause is one of the reasons.
